WHY STABLE SEAT IMPORTANT?
2005-01-10
At the begining of TT, I did research on various kind of child potty seats. Actually bought some to see if they would fit into my Tseat. But none of them seemed perfect for my purpose. "Then, why not just do it myself?" That's why I made a home-made TT seat.
TTing my boys must have taken far longer, or they could never have made it without the seat. I'm pretty sure about this.
Human T-seats are made comfortable for us not for cats. There's no wonder cats preffer more secure floor even if they can ballance on the narrow Tseat, especially for #2 which requires straining at higher center of gravity.
Stable T-seat is a key to success!

Hmmm..comfy... This is ours !
The seat fits firm & nice on human T-seat, while easy to put on & off when human use. it also gives cats a wide space to stand.
lots of shallow cuts on the surface give them more firm grip.
It's simple, durable, portable, washable and compatible with most of the human T-seats.
Defect of the seat is that the metal hooks hurt bare human T-seats. I wanted to make them out of rubber but just had no luck to find proper materials.
I put a terry-cloth T-seat cover on the (human) T-seat so that the metal hooks don't hurt the plastic.
wearing some tape or bandage on the hooks would work, too.
One of my TT friends let me know that she put some non-slip tape on the feet.
Thanks to her creative inspiration !, I immediately put some overgrip tape on the feet (my daugher plays badminton in her after-school activity, she happened to have a roll to repair her racket), and it worked pretty good.

MAKING A HOME-MADE TT-SEAT
2005-01-09
1.draw the draft on a thick paper then cut it out.

2.get a sheet of plywood and cut the board.
I don't even have a jigsaw, so I brought the pattern to a DIY and have them cut it. They provide customers with cutting service with some extra charge.
I used a 0.9cm thick plywood sheet. It's sturdy enough to hold me (thin female adult) standing on the seat mounted on top of the human T-seat, and (perhaps) manageable to make a round cut in it with a fret saw.

3.carve lots of shallow cuts on the surface with a V-shaped craft knife.

4.smooth the surface with a sandpaper.

5.paint the TTseat and dry it completely.
*note; use non-toxic paint. paint in bright color so that it can be recognizable in the darkness.

6.get T-shaped metal (stainless) fixings and make the feet.

7.put double-sided sticking rubber tape on the back of the feet.

INSTALLATION
2005-01-08
1.tape TTseat on to the human Tseat.
2.remove the back-sheet of the tape, position the feet on the back of the TTseat with Tseat up.
*find the best position. back up the feet with some packing tape, put the seat on and take it off the human T-seat several times to make sure the feet are positioned appropriately, not too tight, not too loose.

3.screw down the feet on the back of the TTseat with the rubber tapes on.

4.fix the feet so they fit to the human Tseat.
the feet are very stiff yet you can make a small modification, by using pliers & a hammer.
